The all-new fourth generation 2018 Audi RS 4 Avant has made its world debut at the Frankfurt motor show.

With design inspirations from the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO, the 2018 Audi RS 4 Avant features air inlets with typical RS honeycomb structure, a wide and flat Singleframe grille with the option of Matrix LED headlights with tinted bezels. The rear end sees RS-specific diffuser insert, oval-shaped tailpipes and RS roof edge spoiler to complete the look.

Highlighting the design of the new RS is the Nogaro Blue paint colour with the option of a pearl effect available.

Where the rubber meets the road 19-inch forged aluminium wheels come as standard with the option of 20-inch wheels also available.

Powering the Audi RS 4 Avant is the 2.9 TFSI V6 biturbo engine capable of 331kW and 600Nm, a 170Nm increase over the previous model. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed tiptronic transmission with optimised gear changing. There is also the option of a rear sport differential.

With the standard RS sport suspension fitted, the RS is seven millimetres lower than the standard A4 model with sport suspension. There are also options available which include RS sport suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC), ceramic brakes and RS-specific dynamic steering.

The interior sees RS sports seats with optional honeycomb pattern, flat-bottomed RS leather multifunction sport steering wheel, shift gate and illuminated door sill trims embellished with the RS logo. The Audi virtual cockpit and head-up display present RS-specific information such as g-forces, tyre pressures and torque.

Styling options include gloss black package, carbon with aluminium attachments and carbon with black attachments for a personalised touch.

The new Audi RS 4 Avant will arrive in Australia in April 2018.
