Ford has made running changes to the popular Ranger line-up headlined by the addition of autonomous emergency braking on every variant as standard.

The move to add AEB as standard brings the Ranger into line with the Ssangyong Musso, Mercedes X-Class and higher grades of the new Mitsubishi Triton.

All Ranger models also get lane keep assist with a driver alert, traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam. Pick-up variants add a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors.

To cover the cost of the extra safety kit, prices across the range have increased between $250 and $1000.

XL and XLS grades net an acoustic windscreen for enhanced cabin refinement, while XL Cab-Chassis variants now feature a provision allowing an optional rear-view camera to be fitted and integrated into the SYNC display.

XLT buyers can option a Tech Pack for $800 which brings adaptive cruise control and semi-automatic active park assistance.

Along with the safety boost, the range-topping Raptor is now equipped with eight-way electronically-adjustable front seats for both the driver and passenger.

“The standard inclusion of AEB on the Ford Ranger and Ranger Raptor is great news for ute buyers and other road users,” said ANCAP Chief Executive, James Goodwin. “As one of Australia’s top sellers, having this important safety technology fitted across the Ranger line- up will have a big impact.”

Also worth noting is the first four years/60,000km of servicing is covered under the Ford Service Benefits program, each A or B logbook service during this time is capped at $299.

The updated Ford Ranger line-up will be in dealerships from June 2019.
