Lexus Australia has confirmed it will begin rolling out a retrofit program to add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality to its current generation infotainment system.

All existing LC owners, and new LS (production 8 January 2018, onwards) and ES (production 4 July 2018, onwards) can also now add the smartphone mirroring tech for $249.

Owners of RC and RC F models built from 27 November 2017, and NX models built from 1 September 2017, will also have access to the program for the same cost, as do owners of all UX variants.

Lexus has also announced Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will become standard on eight model lines. The ES and RX received the update in October, while the NX, LS, RC and LC models have been equipped with the tech since November 1.

Following this upgrade, prices for the NX and LS have increased by $300 and $250 respectively, and the RC, RC F and LC have increased by $150 range-wide.

Finally, from December 1, the compact UX SUV will also include smartphone integration as standard, with revised pricing to be announced.

The move follows last week’s announcement from Toyota which detailed a program to retrofit Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for $199.
