Renault Australia has confirmed it will offer a retrofit program to add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality to older Koleos models.

Owners of Koleos II models built prior to September 2017 can upgrade their infotainment to add the smartphone mirroring tech for a fitted price of $486.40.

The upgrade involves both hardware and firmware changes to the vehicle and takes just over an hour to complete.

Matthew Wright, Renault Australia’s aftersales and quality director, said: “The timing of recent announcements around mobile phone detection cameras rolling out in some states makes this kit even more timely and we’re pleased to offer a safe and convenient solution to more customers to complement the many Renault vehicles already built as standard with this latest functionality.”

“This retrofit kit is being launched globally first in Australia and is a direct result of the team at Renault Australia wanting to ensure that Renault vehicles are fitted with products that continue to provide drivers with an easy life in an ever increasing technology driven marketplace.”

The retrofit kit upgrade was specifically designed for the Koleos II and cannot be fitted to other Renault vehicles, R-Link models or Media-Nav systems.

Renault says it will use its local database to reach out to eligible owners early in 2020, however, customers are also able to contact their preferred dealer to confirm if their vehicle is eligible and to book in for the upgrade.
