After a long wait, Tesla has confirmed Australian specifications and pricing for the Model 3, the two variant range will open at $66,000 plus on-roads with deliveries set to commence in August of this year.
 
The Aussie buyers who put down a $1500 deposit more than three years ago can now configure and finalise their Model 3 order online. New customers can also place an order at any stage.
 
At this stage, Tesla will launch two versions of the Model 3 - the Standard Range Plus and Performance.
 
Priced from $66,000 plus on-road costs, the Standard Range Plus offers a driving range of 460km according to NEDC testing. It can sprint from 0-100km/h in 5.6 seconds, with a top speed of 225km/h.
 
Standard features include LED fog lamps, a tinted glass roof, custom driver profiles, four USB ports, docking for two smartphones, 18-inch aero wheels as well as auto-dimming, power folding, heated side mirrors.
 
Internally the Standard Range Plus gets an all-black interior with 12-way power adjustable heated front seats, premium audio system and a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with satellite navigation.
 
Autopilot is included as standard which enables the vehicle to steer, accelerate and brake automatically in reaction to other vehicles and pedestrians in its lane.
 
For an extra $7100 the Full Self-Driving Capability box can be ticked which adds auto lane change assist and auto park which can automatically park the Model 3 in parallel and perpendicular spaces. Later this year addition functionality will be added including traffic sign and light recognition, automatic city driving, summon (the parked car will find you) and navigate on autopilot.
 
The Performance variant, priced from $85,000 plus on-roads, bumps up the range to 560km, shaves the 0-100km/h sprint time to 3.4 seconds and offers a top speed of 261km/h.
 
Performance models add heated rear seats, an upgraded sound system, satellite-view maps with live traffic visualization and navigation, in-car internet music and media streaming as well as a location-aware automatic garage door opener.
 
Performance buyers can also option the Performance Upgrade pack which brings 20-inch wheels, performance brakes, a carbon-fibre spoiler, lowered suspension, alloy pedals and a track driving mode for an extra $6200.
 
Solid Black is the standard colour for all Model 3 vehicles with Midnight Silver Metallic ($1400), Deep Blue Metallic ($1400), Pearl White Multi-Coat ($2100) and Red Multi-Coat ($2800) also available.
 
The first deliveries are expected to take place in August for those at the top of the waiting list.
