Highway patrol and specialist divisions of the Victorian Police Force will soon be behind the wheel of an adapted Volkswagen Passat 206 TSI Proline wagon.

Victoria Police will take delivery of 15 units of the adapted four-wheel-drive Passats which form part of an order for 265 new Volkswagen vehicles. The full order will consist of both sedan and wagon body styles.

This latest order will see VicPol’s Volkswagen fleet increase to 467 vehicles as this latest bunch join the 202 cars that were delivered in 2016.

The tagline ‘Proline’ has been designated to emergency service models. Volkswagen Australia is in the process of developing future emergency service models such as the Tiguan Allspace 162 Proline.

Modifications for the VicPol Passats include an upgraded 180amp alternator which is needed to assist with the running of onboard equipment.

Passat Proline 132TSI wagons will be assigned to general duties with the sedans reserved for the unmarked fleet with covert lights.

Power will come from a 2.0-litre 206kW/350Nm four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The 0 to 100km/h dash takes 5.7 seconds.
