Aston Martin has whipped the covers off the 2020 DBS Superleggera Volante ahead of customer deliveries in the third quarter of this year.

The British marque says the roof consists of eight layers of insulation and acoustic enhancing materials. The roof can be lowered in 14 seconds and raised in 16 seconds. For added convenience, the roof can be operated from the remote key within a two-metre radius of the car.

Power comes from the same 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 found in the coupe, it develops 533kW of power and 900Nm of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends drive to the rear axle.

Aston Martin claims the DBS Superleggera Volante is the fastest convertible model in the company’s history, it can sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 340km/h.

Like all Astons, there will be extensive levels of customisation. There are eight colour options for the hood and for the first time on a Volante model, the window screen surround is available with a 2 x 2 twill carbon-fibre finish.

Aston Martin's local arm has confrimed the DBS Superleggera Volante will be priced from $559,000 plus on-road costs, ouch!
