Details of the updated 2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class have been revealed headlined by refreshed styling, additional safety tech and new powertrains.
 
Initially, the new E-Class will be available in sedan and wagon body styles with the updated models distinguished by new LED headlights and tail-lights, a tweaked front bumper and grille and a new boot lid.
 
Three new paint colours have also been added to the palette: high-tech silver, graphite grey metallic and mojave silver.
 
Inside, buyers get an adaptive driver’s seat that adjusts the driving position to correspond with your height, a new steering wheel, as well as a host of new upholstery and trim choices.
 
Also standard is the MBUX infotainment system with linguatronic voice control and augmented reality satellite navigation, interior assistant, energizing comfort control and energizing seat kinetics.
 
Safety gets a boost with the new E-Class featuring active distance assist distronic with route-based speed adjustment, active stop-and-go assist, active steering assist, active brake assist, as well as a parking package which works with the 360-degree camera.
 
Mercedes-Benz will offer the E-Class with petrol and diesel engines with plug-in hybrid options. New to the range though is the ‘M254’ 200kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with mild hybrid technology that offers an extra 15kW and 180Nm for short bursts.
 
Locally, Mercedes-Benz has announced the updated E-Class will reach Australia in the fourth quarter of 2020. Powertrains, specifications and pricing will be confirmed closer to the launch date.
