Details of the new 2020 Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 4matic have been revealed at the LA motor show.

The Mercedes-Maybach SUV will be sold alongside the Maybach S-Class limo and be a rival to the Rolls Royce Cullinan and higher grades of the Bentley Bentayga.

From the outside plenty of bling is afforded via vertical chrome struts on the grille with pinstripe effect, chrome highlights around the side windows and chrome inserts in the side sill panels.

Other features include multibeam LED headlights, 22- or 23-inch wheels, special D-pillar badging as well as electronically extending running boards which stow out of sight when not needed. There are also various two-tone paint finishes available.

It’s all about luxury on the inside with the heavily insulated interior featuring climatised, massaging, reclining outer rear seats, padded areas finished in fine Nappa leather, the MBUX Rear Tablet system, and an electric opening panoramic sunroof with an opaque roller blind.

For limousine-like legroom, the rear seats also sit a further 120mm back compared to the Mercedes-Benz GLS and can be reclined backwards up to 43.5 degrees.

For additional comfort, folding tables and a refrigerator with space for champagne bottles can be optioned, along with silver champagne flutes. Classy!

A dedicated fragrance has also been developed for the Mercedes-Maybach GLS as part of the optional air balance package, that’s described as “white osmanthus blossom, floral and light, is rounded off by a gentle leather note and spicy tea”.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS gets its power from a 4.0-litre V8 with mild hybrid technology outputting 410kW and 730Nm. The 0 to 100km/h sprint takes 4.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 250km/h.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has confirmed the Maybach GLS600 will be available locally during the third quarter of 2020.
