A number of 2015-2019 Toyota Prius (ZVW50) and Prius v (ZVW40) owners (VINs found here) will not be feeling the love this week as their vehicles are recalled due to improper assembly of the electrical contacts in the seat belt reminder switch.

This recall notice states the driver's seat belt reminder system may fail to switch off after repeated use of the seat belt allowing a continual chiming and warnings on the instrument cluster to persist.

This, of course, could be distracting (and irritating) for the driver and increase the risk of an accident or injury occurring to vehicle occupants and other road users.

To rectify the situation Toyota will contact all known owners in writing to inform them that an appointment needs to be made with a dealer for a free inspection and repair.
