The announcements from Jaguar Land Rover have continued with the company confirming the Land Rover Discovery SVX will not enter production.

Originally revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt motor show, the Discovery SVX was scheduled to go on sale late in 2018. The marque confirmed the news to British automotive media last Friday.

Land Rover touted the SVX model as “the ultimate Discovery for off-road enthusiasts seeking epic adventures.”

Power was to come from a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine producing 386kW and 625Nm.

The Discovery SVX promised improved approach, departure and breakover angles when compared to the standard car. This is due to a higher ride height and a four-corner air suspension system with long-travel dampers and revised knuckles.

The cancellation of the Discovery SVX follows the brand’s announcement in January that the Range Rover SV Coupe wouldn’t be produced.

Jaguar Land Rover has been under pressure after a disappointing 2018. In response, the company confirmed it will cut around 10 per cent of its global workforce (4500 jobs) as part of a plan to save £2.5 billion ($4.5 billion) and return the company to profitability.
